LATEST NEWS.......
CONGRATULATIONS to our Junior Member Michael Boylan for clinching the win at the Metropolitan PGA Junior Championship, both in his age division and the overall Championship. Michael was tied after 36 holes, at 5 over par, and went to a two hole playoff with his fellow competitor. Michael won with a par on the second hole after sinking a great 25ft par putt on the first playoff hole. We are so proud of Michael and what he has accomplished so far, through his hard work and dedication to the game. He will now go to Indiana, in August, to compete in the National PGA Junior Championship, and we will all be rooting for him and wish him the very best of luck.
Introducing the 'heat check'.
We have long been known for our great rain check policy, so with this very hot and humid weather we have decided to give the same policy if you feel that after any number of holes the heat or humidity is too much for you, come into our shop and get a 'heat check' for the holes you haven't played. Bring the ticket into the pro shop next time you play and we will give you credit for those holes. It is a win/win situation. The same applies if it rains, you can always come in and get a 'rain check' for however many holes you have not played. The computer will pro rate the credit based on how many holes you did not play, it takes the risk out of those days that they threaten rain.
The Golf Course is now open. NEW on the course, we have now changed the Valley 2nd hole from a par 3 to a par 4, which now makes all three nines a par 36. The new hole will open during the month of May. The soil from the old tee will become part of the new extended 1st tee on our Highland course. We also plan to level and re-sod an additional 10 tees, completing our objective of having all 27 holes with wonderful tee boxes.
NEW in the Restaurant will be a Saturday Night Prime Rib Dinner, with all the 'fixins' for only $19.95pp including salad, dessert and coffee (Starts May1st), from 4:00pm each week. Plus, for those who missed it, we are replacing the brass rail on the bar, for you to rest your tired golfed out feet :o)
One of our biggest hopes is that you can continue to see your money at work as we strive to make the course, and facilities, better and better. We have many projects that we want to do, the only difficulty is prioritizing them each year.
We are now accepting requests to secure a weekend tee time for your foursome. Unlike many clubs we do not charge for this service, or ask that you pay your whole years greens fees upfront, but provide it as a courtesy to you. We will make sure you get your prefered tee time each weekend, all you have to do is call us, by the Wednesday before, to let us know if you won't be able to make it that weekend. Your greens fees will be our regular rates of $80.00 which includes your cart fee and a ticket for breakfast or lunch on us. Call Steve Callagy on 845-226-7700 ext 205 to secure your time.
Also, next time you play the Highland course, please stop and look at the commemorative bench for our former employee, Roy Corish, who worked as a Ranger and Starter for many years and loved to ride up to Highland #4 and look out at the wonderful vista from the teebox. If anybody is interested in investing in a commemorative tree and brass plaque to put up on the golf course we will be happy to provide you with that opportunity. Please feel free to discuss this option with me. You can call me at 845-226-7700 Ext 201
We have now introduced new tees on all 27 holes. The orange markers denote par 72 courses specifically designed for our junior players and our beginners. The 1500 yards on each nine holes are officially recognized by the USGA and MGA, and are sloped, rated and handicapped. There is a separate scorecard for these tees. These new orange markers provide a marvelous opportunity for anyone who wants to play golf, but finds the average length of a course too difficult for their skill level. We, at Beekman, are always working at making golf accessible to as many people as possible, who want to enjoy the game. So don't delay, bring your children, grandchildren, or other family member to play the orange tees and enjoy your time together here at Beekman Country Club.
I am particularly proud to tell you that Beekman Country Club has been selected as one of the 50 top golf courses for women in the United States, and is in the top 4 for the Northeast. The article is in the 2009 edition of the PGA Professional's Guide to Travel, where a survey was conducted by PGA Professionals, nationally, who offered their choices for favorite golf facilities for women to play.
We were voted alongside such well known courses as Pinehurst Resort in NC, the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Pine Needles in NC, LPGA International in FL, TPC Four Seasons in TX and Kingsmill Resort & Spa in VA.
This is such an honor for us, as we work diligently to provide an environment that welcomes everybody.
